When our Kenmore series 70 washer gets to the spin cycle it fails to spin until the lid is lifted and then it will go into the spin cycle. What needs to be done to fix this?

sounds like the safty is stuck.

It should not spin when opened so the safety must be pushed down when you open it somehow. or broken.

When it gets to the spin cycle, it doesn't spin, but when the lid is lifted and again closed it begins spinning. I have received information that it might be a bad switch.

** Kenmore series 70 Washer **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number. If you post it we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

- Model Number Tag Search

** When it gets to the spin cycle, it doesn't spin **

Does the timer count down to the end of the cycle as if it was working as usual, just without spinning?
