** roper stove **

I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number. If you post it we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

- Model Number Tag Search

LINK > www.appliance411.com/parts/tagsearch.cgi

** takes forever to lit **

So this is a GAS stove. Is it the oven that is experiencing problems, the surface burners or both?

** sometimes i have to lit it **

The only type of oven gas burner that could be manually lit would be one using a pilot ignition system You can read about how they are suppose to function and the observations necessary to start diagnosing problems with it at the following link:

- Understanding Gas Oven Ignition Systems

i have a fgp337hw model no. It takes 5 minutes or more to lit and sometimes i have to lit it because i smell gas.It also takes 30 minutes or so to heat up to the temperatur i need. I don't have money for a new stove and not enough for a repair man so this is the next best thing i can think of.I am a single mom trying to make it. i thank you if you can help me.

** [Roper range model] FGP337HW **

Good. That model uses a glow ignitor oven ignition system (see the previously supplied link) and a spark surface burner ignition system.

** It takes 5 minutes or more to lit and sometimes i have to lit it because i smell gas. **

You still haven't clarified exactly what you're having the problem with, the oven, the surface burners or both?
