It washes and agitates in the wash cycle. When it is done with the wash cycle. It stops, doesnt drain water, doesnt spin.

I pulled down the lid switch from underneath and it started to agitate for a second at the spin mode, but then stopped.

Help. single do it yourselfer mom

** it washes and agitates in the wash cycle [but] doesnt drain water, doesnt spin. **

Does the timer count down to the end of the cycle or stick right where it should be draining/spinning and never move on?

** I pulled down the lid switch from underneath and it started to agitate for a second at the spin mode **

I don't know what would cause agitation at that point but if the timer is sticking right where it should be draining/spinning and never moves on, a problem with the lid switch or it not being activated is the most likely cause.

I took the cabinet off and tried to test the lid switch with ohm meter. but now sure how to test it. In trying to test it, piece fell off of lidswitch.

The timer just sticks doesnt move any further either.

I think it is the lid switch. How do I test it for sure.

Thanks,

** The timer just sticks doesnt move any further either. **

Than that would usually point to a lid switch problem.

** In trying to test it, piece fell off of lid switch. **

If the lid switch is broken it likely needs to be replaced.

There should be two main wires (excluding the ground). Testing for continuity (see the following link) between them while actuating the switch should determine if it is switching or not. But if it's physically broken...

- How do I test for continuity?
