I have a whirlpool, DWSR-ELE-2406028-cv54. I took out a load of clothes, cleaned the lint basket, and now the dryer will NOT start.

** DWSR-ELE-2406028-cv54 **

I don't know what that is but it doesn't look like the model number which is what we need to identify the appliance in question. If you post the correct model number we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.

You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

** now the dryer will NOT start. **

Does it have any signs of life (lights, sounds, etc.)?

If no, has anyone confirmed full power is still getting to the appliance?

There is light in the barrel, however absolutely no sound.

If the drum light is working it means the dryer is at least getting enough power for the motor to be running.

The motor not running could be due to a defective motor or problem in the timer but there is also a thermal fuse (see the following link) on the dryer blower housing which if opened would also prevent the motor from running.

- Whirlpool LEN2000PG0 Dryer Thermal Fuse

LINK > www.appliance411.com/data.php?ap=AP3132867

Someone should check that thermal fuse for continuity to see if it just might be the cause.

That thermal fuse is a safety device. If it does turn out to be open, someone should do a *thorough* check of the venting (see the following link) as that part's failure is trying to prevent a dryer fire.

- How long can my dryer vent be?
