I just bought a house that has a Maytag Model WU502 dishwasher in it. The water line is connected and the electric works, but water does not come into the dishwasher. Is this an easy fix? I don't even know how old it is, but it looks new inside. My assumption is that something has malfunctioned inside that is electrical, like a motor or pump. It makes noise like its running, but no water. Is this thing too old to concern myself with, or should a repairman be able to fix it with a new part or two. It seems like a very basic style of dishwasher.
Thanks for any replies or suggestions...

Is the tap for the dishwasher's supply line turned on?

I couldn't say until someone pinpoints the cause.

No "pump" is involved in filling. A water valve (see the following link) simply opens when power is applied to it allowing the house water pressure to force water into the machine.

If the water supply for the dishwasher is definitely ON, someone would need to determine whether the valve was defective or just not being powered for whatever reason. Just the float inside the dishwasher out of place would prevent filling of the machine.
** Is this thing too old to concern myself with? **
If it is just not filling, it shouldn't require major repairs regardless of its age. If the rest of the machine is still in decent shape, such a repair would often be worthwhile.
** or should a repairman be able to fix it with a new part or two. **
Most likely, yes.
