Hey guys,

I have the common problem of my Kenmore not draining or spinning. I had a pillow in it yesterday and when it began the spin cycle it sounded like it was trying to leave my condo. After turning it off, I can't get through the whole wash cycle. Like I said it stops at either rinse or spin, not sure with the dial. I'm assuming I'll have to check the lid switch. I don't know how to get the machine open other than the panel above the washer. How do I open it to get to everything and how do I check to find out whats wrong?

** it stops at either rinse or spin. I'm assuming I'll have to check the lid switch. **

It could stop the timer from progressing at that point, yes.

** How do I open it to get to everything **

The washer front panel comes off (look for screws at its base) and the wash top should hinge up once the clips holding it down at the front are released.

** how do I check to find out whats wrong? **

The lid switch should be able to be tested for continuity or inspected for physical damage.

- How do I test for continuity?

ahh yes, the switch is broken. The plastic piece has cracked off. I'll replace and go from there. Thank you for saving me the hundreds in a service call.
