I have a washer that makes a loud constant noise when on the rinse/spin cycle. I pulled off the drainage tube and it seems it is not pumping out the water correctly, could this mean something is just caught in the pump or is it more serious? I do have an audio file of the noise...

It's a m4a file from my iphone and it needs quicktime to play it. Hopefully someone is looking at these forums today...gulp

Very possible, yes.

** or is it more serious? **

That is a possibility too. If an inspection of the pump doesn't reveal the cause further investigation will be necessary to try to isolate it.

I couldn't get the pump out because I was fed up enough just getting the tubing off. Anyway I stuck my finger in there and moved the pump ok....well I did just put in a new agitator and when I did sears sent me a normal bolt when my old bolt was a double sided thing that you used the agitator (rotating it). The parts I got had a normal bolt and I put that in. Anyway I emptied out the load and tried to run the spin cycle to no avail...there was that awful noise you hear in the link in my original post. Any other ides?

Someone will need to pinpoint the actual origin of the sound. Maybe the transmission, maybe the clutch above the transmission or maybe something just caught between the tubs and rubbing? There are likely other possibilities as well.

The sound clip was unavailable to me. I'm not sure it would help determine the actual cause anyway.

When I tipped over the washing machine and looked from the bottom I noticed some leaking oil of some sort. I decided it's just time to replace this machine and get a new washer/dryer combo. Thanks for trying to help me out Dan. I know you have helped me in the past with a dishwasher issue and your quick responses are amazing, thanks.
