** Kenmore 80 series washer **
I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number. If you post it we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.
You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

** Washer stopped after completing wash cycle.**
Did the timer advance trough to the end of the cycle or stop at one particular point?

After reading other postings, I determined that I needed a direct drive lid switched, got one it machine is up and running
** Timer advanced through wash cycle **
I asked if it advanced to the END of the cycle.
** I determined that I needed a lid switch. got one. machine is up and running **
If the timer stopped advancing right at the drain/spin portion of the cycle and never moved further on its own, the lid switch would be a prime suspect on most Whirlpool built 'Direct Drive' washer designs.

Glad to hear you got it up and running. Thanks for the follow up.
