It looks like a need a new double oven. My old one is 26 inches, but they don't make that size anymore. So I am concerned about it fitting the space. Do you know how wide the space needs to be to fit a 27 inch oven? Is it as simple as 27 inches or does it need a lip of a half inch?

That will depend on which model. They're not all the same. Check the installation instructions for the model you're interested in at the manufacturer's web site.

The stated dimensions will be (or at least close to) the unit's exterior (ie. visible) width. The space it fits into in the wall (see the following link) is usually the most important consideration when replacing an existing wall oven..
