I have a Kenmore fridge leaking water anytime you use the outside water dispensor or the ice maker uses water. I have replaced the filter and it comes back after a week or so. This has gone on and on. I have checked the orings and they are good. when I put in a new filter I let it cucle water through for the amount of time specified on the filter. I have checked the "holders" that grab the filter when it is installed. Nothing seems to fix it. PLEASE HELP!!! AARRGGHH

** I have a Kenmore fridge **
I'm afraid that is not enough information to identify the appliance in question. What is needed is its exact model number. If you post it we can look it up to see what appliance design you're dealing with.
You can find tips for locating the model and serial number identification tag on your appliances at the following link:

Leaking water from where exactly?
** I have checked the "holders" that grab the filter **
How did you "check" them?
If the filter's seals are not the problem but water is leaking from the filter housing, there might be a problem with it... if that is where the leak is coming from. The housing might be cracked or worn and need to be replaced. Such failures can't always be seen with the naked eye.

Sorry, Model 253.56973602 and it bypasses the orings on the filter. I removed the filter and saw that the two "holders" that grasp the filter were stretched out a little. I reached in and pinched them with my fingers and that did not help at all. When I put a new filter in and cycle water through it as directed, it works as advertised. But, after a few weeks it starts leaking when you use the water dispensor or when the ice maker cycles water to it.

Than that may very well be the problem. The filter base (see the link below) may need to be replaced.

I don't know any other reason it would leak there with a new filter installed.

I have this same refrigerator. After two weeks of dealing with the leak I pulled out the water filter and blew into the input on the back of it. I covered the output and noticed that water was seeping through a seem in the filter. I returned this filter, and installed another one. After about a week it started doing the same thing. So I tried the same thing and the filter leaked again. When I blew on the filter it appeared that it was leaking very slowly and possible through a crack in the outer shell. I am now on my third filter, and it has started doing the same thing. I don't know if this is the only place it's leaking. But I thought I would share this with you. The amount of water that pours out inside the refrigerator while using the water dispenser tells me it isn't just becuase the filter was leaking. Hopefully this will help and someone will have a good idea
