I'm designing an out-door shed. I'm having trouble with the door framing.
For a shed, does one need an elaborate "standard" door frame?

Have a look at the "Oak Barn project" I believe I show you how to make the doors in there...?... also look at Dr K's project, there are a couple of more ideas for you.
Basically you won't need the jambs but will need the king & jack studs to carry the header. You can use a door stop & a 2x frame & ply door.. or the many variations on that style of door.
