I have a project to build a box to hold one cubic yard. However it needs to be no thicker that 2ft, no longer than 6ft. or no wider than 4ft.The reason for these dimensions are the box will have to fit in the back of a pickup truck with a camper shell and a special rack that is installed in the bed that is approximately 18" high. There is not enough room for a 3'thick box. Need some dimensions to make a cubic yard box fit in.

3' x 3' x 3' = 27 CuFt per Cubic Yard
Truck box sized 4 feet x 6 feet = 24 cubic feet per foot height
27 รท 24 = 1.125 x 12 = 13.5 inches tall
Your One Yard Box......
48" x 60" x 13.5"
"...measure once.....cut twice....throw that one away and cut a new one...."

Hi Doug and thanks for the quick math lesson but shouldn't my box be 48"x 72"x13.5" instead of 48"x 60"x 13.5" ?
