Hello,

I am trying to find informatin, links or
names of builders using alternative construction methods to traditional stick build. So far the only thing I was ale to find on the web were modulars. I am trying to find panel, kit or premade wall assembly
type builders. Could any one point me in the right directions?

Hi there:
Dome construction isn't for everyone, but I love it. It's the strongest and most energy efficient form of building out there.
Find it at www.monolithicdome.com
My tankless water heaters are used in lots of domes. If anyone needs info, please e-mail me at hotwater@structurex.net or call (337) 491 9902.
Regards, Brian.

Panel systems are often used in timberframe construction. It's lots more flexible than log construction. All the load is on the timbers. I'm using Hearthstone out of Tennessee for both a log home and a timberframe barn/shop. www.hearthstonehomes.com or 1-800-247-4442. Log Home Living Magazine or timberframe magazine should give you some good sources of suppliers. You could also search under manufacturer housing -- you'll get some mobile homes, some modular, but I've also seen some of the premade wall assemblies. dogpile.com is one of my favorite search vehicles since it does megasearches.

Deltec makes panel round houses, the are based in Asheville, NC. There is another which totally round called the Helix which is based in the northeast. There is another which uses a central pedestal for roof support, it is called the Topsider and based in Clemmons NC. The first two have no interior load bearing walls. The research I did shows that they are more engery effienct.I am building one now, the panels come with the windows installed. pholland
