I noticed down in my basement one of the floor joists has split in 3 places along the grain and up to the sub-floor. The joist has many wires and pipes (either hanging or) through the joist.

How can I get one or more sleepers in place to shore this up? The house was built in the early 1900's. Most of the lumber is set in the brick foundation or mortise & tendon set into other joists.
