I'm in a newly-constrcuted home that has an unfinished basement. On the outside of the home, the cinderblock walls have been sealed. I have two questions:

— 1. Should I also be painting the inside of the walls with a block sealer? I've had friends tell me different things. I plan on putting plastic between the cinderblock and my studs.

— 2. I know I can screw the 2x4s of my new studs/frames into the ceiling joists. But what about the floor? Should I glue to the floor? What about the process? What comes first .. last?

Thanks,
Bill from Pittsburgh

Use either tapcon screws (concrete screws) or a ramset. A ramset uses a .22 caliber shell to drive the nail thru the sole plate into the concrete.

Use a top plate also. Serves as a firestop.
