Help! I'm about ready to move out of my dream house if we can't solve this constant problem! The smell is unbelievable and lingers for about 3 weeks each time it happens. Exterminators have been no help & most of them are clueless. Chemicals to mask the smell doesn't SOLVE the problem. Has anyone successfully found out how to handle this? I don't have any idea who else to contact. We are desperate for answers!!

You didn't mention how they got to be dead in the walls. If you know what killed them, that's the place to start.
Some rhodent baits advertise that the dying mouse or rat will go outside to die after eating this bait. I suggest you get one of these poisons so that any remaining (or new) mice will go away to die.
Hope that helps.

try the rat zapper 2000. I bought mine from e-bay. got rid of a lot of mice and I must say, this product really works.

All I can say is there must be a LOT of mice in your walls if you smell them. I get mice in my house since im out in the country and had a few die, but never smelled anything. First thing I would do is find out where they are coming in and stop that, then work on getting the smell out.

We used to have that problem every couple of years when using poisons, including the kind that claim the rodent will leave the premises to die.

Poisons, while much handier to use, can cause this problem. Instead, I bought a dozen of those plastic, spring-loaded mouse traps and mounted a daily offense against the mice. It worked and no odor from dead mice crawling up inside walls.

Mice can enter teh tiniest of openings. you need to crawl around under your house looking for openings into the crawlspace and into the interior of the house. Common entry points would be where pipes and electrical conduits routed in the crawlspace go up into the house. Often there is a gap. Fill those gaps with steel wool.
