The only time ants get into the house is during the winter when it can get cold and wet.

Within the last week for no apparent reason the ants have started to come in. Anyone have an idea as to why this is happening? And what are some effective protections to get rid of them? The ant stakes were useful in the past but for some reason they seem to be ineffective. The ants appear to be the common garden variety.
