How can I clean spider/insect pooh from my vinyl siding? Powerwashing does nothing. I've tried simplegreen (full strength); soft scrub, and bleach. Seems I have to first scrape off the black raised specks, then scrub with bleach to remove the stain. It took me 3 hours to do a 3x8 section. There has to be an easier way or a better cleaning solution. Help? I had a guy look at it and said he has never seen it as bad on a house as ours.

I would try one of the products designed for taking the dried bugs off the front bumper and grill of your car. First test it in an area of your siding to insure that it does not change the color of your siding when you spray it on. I would also avoid letting it run down the siding as it may cause streaks. You may also want to wear safety glasses.

There are several products available at the major aftermarket auto parts stores.

Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Every piece of spider pooh is one less bug you would have had running around your home.

I answered this in another forum topic, same answer:

We used to have tiny brown spots all over the inside of our barn, especially on light fixtures. For years I assumed these were deposited by insects. Turns out it is usually artillery fungus from wood shavings, mulch etc. Lots of pictures and articles on the internet if you search this term. Some examples from Penn State and Cornell:

So far, I haven't seen a good cleaning solution, but maybe you should reconsider the mulch next to the house?

I clean houses professionally and the one thing that I can count on to clean spider droppings is white vinegar. It works wonderfully, is inexpensive and isn't smelly either. Mix up some vinegar in water and place in a spray bottle and presto! you are ready to go.
