We just bought a new house this year, and to our surprise we have discovered we may have a mole problem. I don't recall seeing this problem before we moved in, but it seems to have escalated since we resided in our new home. We have monitored the problem and think there is a chance we may have a colony of them residing in our yard. What recommendations would you have to help quickly eliminate this problem? Products names, and cost would be greatfully useful?

I also had a mole problem. My solution- eliminate their food source- worms and grubs. I used a commercial grub killer from my local home improvement store. I have to do this a couple time a year to ensure the moles don't return.

At this point i have no respect for the varments & want them gone as you do.. so here are 2 things that you can do #1 use mouse traps w/crunchy peanut butter(ball head pin needle amount) or a pumkin seed on the mouse trap (i have heard works great!!) # 2 mole chaser remedy- 1 1/2 TBSP Tobasco Sauce, 1 TBSP of liquid dish soap, 1 tsp chili powder, 1 Qt of water ...Mix all ingredients & pour into mole runways( from Backyard Gardener ) Good luck ! I can relate to your frustration!!

I have heard that if you kill the worms and grubs, the moles will dig all over the yard looking for food before they give up. Expect a lot of "Aeration" :)

We use the Scissor type mole traps. They work pretty well. We have caugth 3 with the scissor type (reminds me of a scissor jack) and 1 with the standard forked traps.

You can't control the neighbors yards so expect some to come back.

Thanks for the scissor trap info ...We will definitely try that !!! We have also bought inexpensive electronic devices to keep these varments away & it also works for keeping ants , spiders, creapy crawlers away (which is a plus!! ) ...Not sure how good they work just yet.....But they are plugged in ...So ask me in a month or so ...
