HELP!! I have had something in my attic for over a month now. I've tried to catch it on my own and hired a pest control service and nothing is working!! I've tried bait boxes for both mice and rats (and it hasn't eaten the bait in either), glue traps, and 2 sizes of squirrel no-harm traps (and the rodent always trips the traps and eats the food but never gets caught). I've tried sprinkling flour around the trap but can't make out any distinguishing footprints. The activity is only heard late at night -- but I have seen evidence of food (in the trap) being eaten during the day while i was at work. I am at my wits end and sick and tired of being woken up everynight by the noises. I even called around seeing if i could rent an infrared camera from someone to at least identify what it is - but no luck. HELP!!

Rodents are very smart. They have had a long time to evolve to survive.
While it may not be the most humane way. (But Glue traps kill them as well) Using snap traps will catch them.
Set them right next to eachother.
You will also want to find their entrance/egress point. As there is generally not a lot of food in attics.
Look around your foundation and your eaves as well as any vents. they can get in very small holes.
They carry lots of germs and bugs so it is best to get rid of them.

Years ago, I too had an infestation of rodents in the attic of my mobile home. My solution was to buy some Tarla-Diphas Blue, sprinkle some on a slice of bread, and place in the A/C closet. Next day the snack was gone and in 3 more days, so were the rodents. You might try spreading a little peanut butter on first, to make it totally irresistible.

What you might have to to do I your particular case is to buy some rodent glue traps. The rodents in your attic have a knack for smelling conventional traps so it time to use something less suspicious to try and capture them. Here is an example of one such trap:
