Anyway, I'd like to convert the block basement into a new first floor. My idea was to jack the house up a couple feet, knock the blocks out, and then build wood walls. The blocks are not in that great of shape and the foundation wall is bowed in several places.
Q1 - Are there resources available for a do-it-yourselfer to jack up a house?
Q2 - If I were to get crazy(er) and want a new basement, under the new first floor, is it possible to jack the the house, build the basement and first floor, then set the second floor back down?
This is not a big house - 24x48 outside dimension, and I have almost no furniture in it.
Any help is greatly appreciated...Thx.
