a friend built a room onto my carport. the bottom plate was anchored with construction adhesive and some type of .22 gun. there was no edge or lip for the bottom plate to rest upon and i now have water leaking into the storage room. the remainder of the carport is open and when the wind blows the rain underneath, it leaks into the room. he used hardi-plank on the outside and the interior is insulated and paneled. another friend used a type of moulding cutter to cut 1/4in or more from the bottom of the hardi-plank, as it was touching the concrete. he said it shouldn't extend that far. he then used some type of industrial caulk to seal the bottom plate to the concrete. it didn't work. also, water is leaking underneath the doorsill. please help!
