Hello, my addition on my house was done with cement blocks. The space between my original foundation and my addition is not ventilated. Does this space need ventilation and if so, do I have to keep the vent open all the time, winter and summer. What would be the best material to use as a vent, if needed? Do I need 1 vent or 2, North and South? The floor underneath is insulated. Thank you for your reply.

Your crawlspace under the addition does not need to be vented if:
1)There crawlspace is vented to the interior of the house.
2)An approved vapor retarder covers the floor and mechanical ventilation is required
3)The ground surface is covered by an approved vapor barrier, the space is supplied with conditioned air, and the walls of the crawlspace are insulated.

My crawlspace does not have any of the criterias you mentioned. Therefore, I'm I correct to assume it does need ventilation?
