I have seen on TV, as have people in my office, a type of glass that can be "turned" on and off. The glass is normally clear.... but with the flick of a switch it is no longer clear. im not sure if it turns into some kind of one way window, or if it is solid on both sides.

Can anyone give me a link.

thanks

Hi HProvinelli,

I have, personally, seen this technology and it is quite remarkable.

My understanding is that it is quite expensive so (currently) best suited for the commercial market vs. residential.

Try some searches on "Electrochromic". I tried a few myself, and, I found these. No guarantees here! This is just some ideas for you to get you started!

Please remember! I've seen this technology first-hand. It's impressive! But I don't know much more than that. I can't recommend anything particular. Please use this info only as an avenue to improve your own searches. And, here's to some impressive future technologies in this area!

Here is a website that you can go to to find out more about this product.

www.polytronix.com/privacyglass.htm

The way it works is there is a liquid crystal film that is sandwiched between two layers of glass. When the electric current is switched on, the glass becomes clear. When the liquid crystal is not energized, the molecules disperse light, and the glass becomes transluscent, allowing light but still providing for privacy.
