I have just installed a new light in my dining room. It is a track light I bought from Expo (HD). The current is fed wireless through the base to the lights. Not sure how else to explain that. Anyway, I have a slide dimmer for it, but unless I turn the dimmer all the way up, there is an extremely loud hum comming from the light. Is there some way to reduce this? Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you sure the humming is not from the dimmer?
If the light fixture itself is humming, try disconnecting the lights in the base, one at a time,to see if the problem is in just one of them.
Make sure they are all snugly connected to the base.

Thank you for your reply. I have tried what you suggested, and no luck. It is definately comming from the base of the light. It is not a convetional track light. The lights themselves "snap on" to the track. There are no wires. The transformer is where the humming is comming from. Thanks again.

Low-grade transformers are notorious for humming when they're heavily loaded. It's somewhat uncommon these days, but you still see it ocassionally with inexpensive fluoroescent ballast transformers. You may want to replace the transformer with one with a higher current rating, or lower the wattage of the lights that will be used in the lighting.

Or you might return the track lighting as defective. It's possible that a replacement wouldn't have this problem, or that a higher-quality unit wouldn't have this problem.

By the way, do did confirm it was wired correctly and that the bulbs used weren't in excess of the unit's rated capacity, right?

I'll venture a guess that you have a standard dimmer switch and a low-voltage track light set......You can't "dim" the transformer......Check the instructions......
