Our house was built in 1914, and we just discovered that the hallway light sconce is a gas/electri combination fixture. The gas has long since been disconnected, but we don't know how to remove the fixture. Can we just saw through the metal gas line, and attach our new electric fixture like we normally would?

Are you still looking for an answer to removing the old fixtures? If so, email me at starrelectric@yahoo.com and maybe I can help you. Have a number of questions first to clarify what you have, especially whether or not the gas is still connected.
