Can anyone recommend a dusk-to-dawn floodlight control that actually works?

I've tried three different units, and none of them will work on a cloudy day. One actually turned the lights out when I drove up the driveway at night.

I'm assuming for now it's just bad technology marketed to make a quick buck, or maybe the same cheap photo cell in each unit made in some third world country to abyssmal quality standards.
