My gas trimmer starts just fine & the line turns like it is going to cut but it doesn't cut. It basically just slaps the grass. I've checked the string & there is plenty. I've checked to make sure the string is on right & have had several guys look at it & can't figure out what is wrong with it. HELP!!!

Sounds like it isn't spinning fast enough, got to much line in the head? head is going to slow to cut.Is it running correctly?
if it isn't hitting high RPMs it won't cut.

Does it have a self cutter. The string could be too long sticiking out of the head.

SOME MODELS OF WEED EATERS HAVE AN AUTOMATIC CLUTCH ASSEMBLY IF IN LARGER TYPES. IF YOU WILL LOOSEN THE COLLAR NEXT TO THE MOTOR WHERE THE SHAFT CONNECTS,PULL SHAFT COLLAR DOWN,YOU WILL PROBABLY FIND PROBLEM. THE CABLE HAS A SQUARE SHANK WHICH MAY HAVE JUST JUMPED OUT, OR HAS ROUNDED OFF THE SHANKS. IF SHANKS ARE ROUNDED, THE CABLE MUST BE REPLACED, IF ARE STILL GOOD, PUSH CABLE ASSEMBLY BACK INTO MOTOR HOUSING AND TIGHTEN THE COLLAR. ALSO,SEE IF YOU CAN TURN THE HEAD ASSEMBLY MAKING SURE THE CABLE IS INTO THE MOTOR.IF EVERYTHING IS IN CONTACT, YOU CANNOT TURN THE HEAD ASSEMBLY
