I recently bought an old Craftsman 15 1/2 drill press at a garage sale. Everything work well, but the fellow didn't have a key for the chuck. I didn't think it would be so hard to find one, but I'm finding out differently.
It is a RIGID chuck, Model #6T33C with a 0-1/2 capacity and it has "33 tapper" stamped on it.
I'm trying to put together a small work shop in my garage for my sons and I to enjoy. Any help anyone might be able to give would be greatly appreciated.
If I cnan;t get a key, would it be possible to replace the chuck and how would I go about doing that? Thanks.

try Ridgid Tools 1 800 474-3443. theyare owned by emerson electric whom was most likely the oem for the craftsman drill press. the model number will be 113.xxxx if made by emerson/ridgid. most parts for ridgid and craftsman from the same time period are interchangable.

I have the same problem. Drill press is 39 years old and never had a problem. The clean up crew (probably me) disposed of the key. I have not been successful in locating another.
Rich. Did you find a key for yours and if so, where?

I just bought one of these Craftsman Drill press's with a Mortise attachment and a uniquie (double)table. Can this unit realy be 30 Plus years old?. I had to rebuild the chuck swivel part with new ball bearings. Lots of fun. Easy to do once you know the secret.
