Not too sure if this is the correct area to ask this question, but here goes...

We have a home that has a huge floor to ceiling stone fireplace. We also have a baby that will be crawling soon. The fireplace has a seating area also made of stone. How can I cover the bottom part of the fireplace so that it does not pose a danger to the baby if he should fall back against it or bump his head? Is there a way to apply adhesive to cushions that can be glued against the stone? May seem like a silly question, but I am desperate here! Thanks!!

I don't know about cushions, but a baby's head can take alot of abuse. I was convinced my kids wouldn't live to be 5!!! They hit their head on everything, including running up to my tailgate just as I was lifting it, boing.... wife slamming head of child in car door...boing...

Now for fireplace and railing safety...I used the white wire shelving, wire tied together around my fireplace to keep them away when they were crawling, also placed some against the railing balusters to keep them from crawling through.

When they outgrew it I mounted it in the garage for more storage.

I have a 14 month old and have now been through the crawling and learning to walk phase. Yes, babyproofing is a must but I am the type of person who doesn't like eye sores and does like function, too. I bought 3inch foam from a fabric store and covered the seating area as well as the front area of the fireplace. I hot glued a fabric on it that matched our living room. Now I have a cozy fireplace seat and safety for my son.
