Hi guys, new to the board.

Am about to venture into the land of renovation, and having plenty practice at DIY am not too daunted, yet..... Biggest problem is what to do about scaling on the external stonework. The house is 120 years old and in a seaside town.

Any suggestions on what to do about it will be most appreciated

Do you mean lime scale? White, powdery, non-water-soluble dusty-looking scale? That is also called efflorescence. Google may be your friend. I think you are going to reach for some sort of acid. Good luck.
