I have a 1978 home and the chimney is starting to lean outward away from the roof. When I saw it I climbed up on the roof and I was able to actually move the chimney around about an inch or so in any direction. I have been told that "mudjacking" is the way to go. I have also been told that the way to go would be to tear the whole thing down and rebuild it from ground up. It is an all brick chiney and is on the outside of the house (meaning that it easily accessible). I don't know which would be ther better way to go. Obviously the less expensive way to go would be to mudjack it but I am not sure how reliable this method is. Please help me with any information anyone may have as this has to be fixed rather soon. Thank you.
