I want ot reface my off-white/beige brick fireplace in my dinning room; it's a rather large area of brick- from floor to ceiling; need suggestions on what materials I can use besides marble and rock; my hubby has me on a budget so I'm looking for something that is budget friendly; someone suggested stuccoing over the brick; is that safe? Thanks in advance for any help!

Cement based "true" stucco can be used. You will probably have to install the stucco over a wire plaster lath fastened to the brick to prevent cracking.
