We are redoing an old marble fireplace that currently has red firebrick on the walls and floors of the inside of the fireplace. We want a more contemporary look and wonder if we can use a natural stone INSIDE the firebox (perhaps granite). Can granite or another natural stone stand up to 200-300 degree heat of a gas fireplace? Any suggestions?
