We want to make our living room ceiling similar to what we've seen on some older home's porches, i.e., wood planks about 2" wide. We have seen it in one other home. We were told that it was paneling. I wasn't savvy enough to check out the details while I was there. We've found some paneling, but can't figure out what to do with the seams where the 4' sides will meet (paneling is 8' x 4'). Our room is 15' long, so two panels will have to meet end-to-end. How do we keep it from being so obvious that two panels are meeting? If not paneling, how else can we get this effect?

You have 2 good options. Armstrong makes a ceiling that looks like real planks - very easy to install.

The second option is to use real wood tongue and groove planks.
