We've recently purchased a home that has one wall covered with cork squares, and they've been on for over 20 years. How do we remove the cork, keeping the wall intact?

I would try steam (maybe from an iron) to loosen the adhesive, then scraping with a plastic trowel. It works great for wall coverings.

We had a cork wall to remove as well. They had glued and nails the cork over the drywall. We ended up scraping/pealing the cork off. We could not find any solvents that loosened the glue. We ended up skim-coating entire wall and refinishing.
If I had it to do over, I would just rip out the drywall and install new drywall. It is much easier and looks better when finished.

Good Luck.
