REFINISHING FURNITURE
I've refinished damaged fireplace mantles in the way I am about to describe to you. This takes some artistic ability and imanigation on your part.
#1: Get white ceiling paint, a matchable stain, ( oil based ), Fom brushes of varying sizes and throwaway type brushes of varying sizes.
#2. On a piece of scrap board, coat it with primer. Let it dry until moist but not sticky. Put on the stain to match your bed. Be artistic. Use the regular brushes for the woodgrain and the foam brushes for the knots. For the knots, simply dip in the stain, place on the surface and twist in a circle lightly. You will be surprised at the result. After all is as you wish, do the same on your furniture. Finish it with Helmsman marine finish It comes in satin or high gloss. Keep me posted on your results. I've done this many times and with beautiful results. This is not like the antiqueing kits. It looks real! The secret is to use scrap wood first to match your bed, then duplicate what you did to your furniture.
