I will be having a contractor lay a new maple hardwood floor in a condominium I am purchasing.

I have heard from a few sources (including he contractor)that laying the floor angularly (as opposed to parallel to the walls of the room in one direction or another) makes the room feel larger (which is something I desire). I have been unable to find photos of this look, nor have I actually seen it anywhere.

I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions before I commit to this.
