We live in a two story townhouse. We just had new light oak cabinets installed in the kitchen. The countertops and backsplash are off-white with a bit of beige movement in them. The ceiling is white, the one north facing window is white, the appliances are all white and the floor is white tiles. The walls are also white which is what I want to change. It's a small kitchen and therefore there is really not that much exposed wall. What would be the best colour to used to give the kitchen a little umphh?
Keep in mind:
The kitchen is the short part of a L of which the LR and DR make up the long part. So the kitchen leads into the LR but is sort of separated by a door that leads outside. So the colour that is used in the kitchen may have to be used on the same wall that leads into the LR.

It sound like you can use any color really, since everything else in neutral. You should start with a color you really love and then choose the shade. If you like green, you can use a sage green...if you like yellow, try a buttery yellow color (nothing too bright...be careful of yellow, it's almost always brighter than you think it will be: think in terms of a creamy color. You can also try a mustardy yellow (almost a gold tone), which would look great against your cabinets and is very in now. Where do you live? That should also be a factor.

I am leaning more towards yellow or something gold or even peach? I am toying with the idea of painting two walls a slightly different shade as the other two walls.
OK, Here are my suggestions:
If you want to lean more towards peach (which is a great choice for Barbados and a color which is going to be in again this year) look at Benajamin Moore's "Asbury Sand" #2156-50 and "August Morning" #2156-40. They are on the same color card. Try using August Morning only on a focal wall. If August Morning is too much color, you can use any combination of the lighter colors on that card.
If you want to lean more toward gold, look at Benjamin Moore, "Straw" #2154-50 and "York Harbor Yellow" #2154-40 for the focal wall. Golden Straw #2152-50 is also very nice.
I think I would use the Asbury Sand and August Morning in Barbados, because these are cooler colors, while the golds are more warm.
