There are many opinions regarding the appropriate substrate material for casework to either be laminated in plastic laminate or wood veneers. I would appreciate comments from forum members as to what they consider best for different kinds of applications; e.g. kitchen/wetbar counters and base cabinets; commercial storage casework, both wall-hung and base units; custom casework with curving fronts and modulated forms. So what do you all recommend? Water-resistant plywood in potentially wet conditions (with a sink) over MDF and particle board? For curves, successive layers of 1/4" bending ply over a 2x structural framing core, then veneered in pl.lam or wood veneer? Opinions and tips would be very much appreciated.
