repair corian counter top

Could you please tell me "how to" repair a crack in my corian counter top. The crack is aprox. 8 inches long. The counter top is in a 1999 motor home. Dupont does warranty their counter tops for 10 years (according to their web site) but not if they are in a motor home or modular. They referred us to a repairman in our area, but we feel that the 4 hour job @$170.00 an hour is a bit excessive. Can you help us with this? Thanks in advance. Stan

Unfortunately this is not a DIY job. The damaged area needs to be routed out very precisely and a new piece of Corian cut to fit and seamed in. Then it has to be sanded flush to the surface surrounding it. Simply filling the crack with adhesive will fail and the crack will continue to travel. Why not call a local kitchen dealer to see who fabricates their Corian, then see if they will give you a quote? I agree that $680.00 seems steep to repair the top.

There are Corian countertops repair kits available on the internet for diy countertop. One of the sites is www.refinishingonline.com look under countertop repair kits. K.R.

i don't think it's something you have do on your own. especially since you said it's 8 inches long. you may need to replace the whole thing
