I personally prefer it with the countertops and the cabinets are very contrast.So with very light maple cabinets I prefer dark countertops.

Yeah, painting counter tops is something that I highly do not recommend! It's just a disaster. Pinks and browns are hard to work with unless you stick with just that: pink and brown. You could do a mocha brown for the walls.
