I have inherited my parents 90 year old home which my Dad added a den to in the 70's. The room is 14 x 30 with a ceiling that goes from 15 ft. down to 7 ft.(outside wall), There's a great fireplace in the middle of the 7 ft. wall with a window on each side but does anyone have any ideas on reducing the overwhelming look of the slanted ceiling?

You can lower the ceiling on the 15' side and have it pitch upwards toward the center of the room.

i think a large entertainment center would take away from the ceiling. do the windows look out of place as well?

Do you have any pictures so we can see what you're working with?
