We just bought a house with four-year-old deck. It is constructed of pressure-treated wood and appears to be well-built. Paint on the floor is peeling badly. Rather than getting into the yearly scrape/pressure-wash/paint/stain cycle, I would prefer to cover the existing floor with a thin composite. I'm looking for a Trex-type material, but only 1/2" thick to run directly over the existing planks so I don't raise the floor up to door sill level. I'd like the covering to run exactly on top of the existing planks to preserve the look and drainage through the cracks. I don't want to replace the planks. Two questions: 1) Is this a good idea? 2) Does such a product exist?

1) No, it will trap moisture between the composite & the existing decking, excelerating the decay.
2) Yes, there is a 1x6 put out by Trex for example, but you'll find it is a special order and quite possibly as or more expensive than re-decking.

I have a house that is 20 years old. The deck floor is coated with a tennis ball recycle material. I have been unable to locate anyone who knows what the material is called and how to reprint it. The man who installed it is not in business anymore. Any thoughts about the name of the material or how to get the info would be appreciated.
