Well, we are closing on a house the end of next week and I was wanting to add a half court in the backyard. There is plenty of space at the moment and easy access, since it is in a community and the lots surrounding the house are all empty. The sod will be placed down within the next week. I want a basketball court that measures 50x47 ft.(4" inch thickness) What do you think the best way of going about this would be? Could I and a few friends prepare the ground for the concrete pouring using shovels or what not? Or would it be easier since they probab ly have to level the ground before putting the sod down? I would like to go about this the least exensive way. I even thought about having the contractors come out and just pour the concrete. I'm up for the task of doing it all by myself, and don't think it should be that difficult, but then again I have never done this kind of work, so some advice would be greatly appreciated.

- Advice on installing a half court basketball goal
is/will the driveway be paved? and do you have a garage? reason i ask, you could mount a backboard/hoop on the garage, and get a portable backboard/hoop and set that up at the end of the driveway and end up with 'full court' action.
as far as doing your own 'court' in the yard, i'm sure you could do it with friends, i think the biggest thing would be getting it set up so you would get proper drainage to avoid puddles on the slab after rain storms and such.
