I want to paint old, very sturdy (probably from the 1950's or 1960's) aluminum lawn chairs. Can I use regular Rustoleum paint? How do I prep the chairs so that the paint will adhere?

I had good success when I put "painting aluminium" into google.
The alum boats are painted all of the time, they seem to prefer the finishing coats of two pack linear polyurethane, with a specific set of preperation steps.
