Any help appreciated on this problem. I went to prep our porch trim for painting, and discoverd wood rot in the posts that support the beam holding up the roof. This is a covered porch attached to the rear of our 1930 New England-style colonial. Porch roof slopes downward slightly. Porch floor is raised several inches off the ground and framed by concrete sill plates that need to be replaced. How extensive is this job? How much roughly should it cost in NJ? Should we replace all 5 posts even if all are not rotted, then do the sill plates, too? Please advise.
