I want to add a screened porch on the back of my house with a roof. It will probably be a shingle roof. The width of the area of the house where I want to add it is 22 feet and I want to come out atleast 15 feet.

Can someone look at the picture of my house below and tell me if I should add a flat sloped roof or build it up like I have marked in yellow?

I live in Savannah, GA so there is no snow. The problem is the back of the house is uneven because of the fireplace chimney For the center board at the top for the rafters, I would probably move the center to the left and put a 4x4 against the house and run the center board from it for support for the rafters.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks!!!

Warren,

Unless you have professional level skills, you are in way over your head for this project.

The profile of you house and intersecting roof lines is going to make this one complicated project no matter how you plan it with a gable or a shed type roof.

It may actually be easier in your situation to attach a separate screen room with a small breezeway than to attempt to attach anything to your house.

Bottom line is you will likely need a professional for this job.
