I plan to add an arbor to my deck. I have a set of plans for a free standing arbor but I'd like to attach it to the house. I have vinyl siding. How do I find where to attach the ledger board?

If you are talking a two story than you need to measure from Finish floor to Fin floor. Typically the band will be approx. 1-2" below that, or 5/8 above the drywall... transfer that outside where 2 windows line up.
If you are talking one story make it freestanding.
