Hi,
I had a stamped concrete patio put in our backyard and it has already cracked in two places in just 3 weeks. The contractor was an idiot and a jerk and put the expansion joints in the wrong places. The stamp is also done improperly and looks somewhat unsightly.
I want to know if I can put pavers on top of the stamped concrete. Also if I do, should I set them with mortar or should I use sand. I will have to use thin pavers ~1" thick since the concrete comes up to the patio door on the house. I was also thinking of putting slate tiles since it would be a thinner material, but I guess I would have to seal it fairly often. Any advice would be really helpful.

I'm not a concrete specialist, but I think that the exp. joint would telescope through the slate, if mortared... a paving stone might not though, I'd check that one at the supplier.
The problem is that the sand may wash out depending on how your swales & water distribution is for your yard ... if you used some type of inhibiter with the sand grout that hardens may slow the process, & protect the sides with a border.

I did motar those down though, because of the slop.

Thanks for the advice, I am looking at where I can get thin pavers. It seems like they are mainly from companies in Florida. I will have to see what places in SoCal offer them. Thanks again.
